Distribution Relationship Management (DRM) Intern

During the summer of 2019, I worked as a DRM intern at Allianz Life. Throughout this internship, I took on various projects where I developed skills in relationship management as well as an understanding of the products and services that Allianz Life provides.

Customers of Influence (COI)

To increase the productivity throughout the distribution and sales team I took on a project focused on updating and reorganizing information on COI in Salesforce.  I collaborated members of the distribution team to collect new org charts and maps that specified contacts that could be used to further develop the contact profiles. I also worked with members of the sales team to list out valuable information that could be implemented in Salesforce which would lead to an increase in productivity for their team. Lastly,  I collaborated with the IT department and the Sales Enablement Manager to simplify Salesforce contact data for increased accessibility for the sales and distribution teams.

Standardization of Communication

A sales intern, I standardized the B2B customer relationship process for the distribution relationship managers. This project led to an increase in efficiency through the flow of communication between departments.

Career Panel

I collaborated with a group of Distribution interns to develop and host a career panel event for 25+ interns attendees. We organized a group of 5 panelists and prepared a series of questions that focused on professional development.

Race Newsletter

After joining the diversity and inclusion organization within Allianz) called EDDGE (Empowering Diversity in Distribution through Growth and Education), four interns and I visited an exhibit at the Minnesota Science Museum that focused on race. Following this event, we were given the opportunity to share our experience and feedback through a newsletter that was posted on the internal company website.

Dashboards

The dashboards I had created were used to highlight the sales and communication activity of our spotlighted firms. This information was utilized by managers in the distribution department to reference the progression of sales during their marketing campaign.

Recruitment Playbook

For a final collaborative project, four other interns and I created a playbook of ideas that Allianz could implement into their diversity and inclusion recruiting objectives. We highlighted some of the best practices we experienced in school recruitment such as working with universities with a high diversity index and honors programs created for people of color. Additionally, we created a plan that Allianz Recruiters could use to build relationships with the university professors, which would lead to classroom speaking events and career panels.
