Sales and Management internship 

During the summer of 2018, I worked as a sales and management intern at Sherwin Williams based at their Canton, Michigan store. Through this opportunity, I gained a deeper understanding of retail sales, merchandising, and management.  Additionally, during this internship, I focused on developing stronger customer relationship management skills by utilizing the internal CRM software (SherLink). With this software, I kept a record of sales calls that I had taken and tracked the development of four accounts.

 

In terms of store management, I managed/monitored the inventory while restocking products after deliveries. Through the use of Planograms, I made sure all displays matched Sherwin Williams' 2018 visual merchandising plan. Also, when we had specialty products in stock I assisted the assistant manager in creating displays and putting up window signage and graphics.

 

In addition to the in-store experience, I worked alongside five interns in the Eastern-Michigan division to create a plan to increase the usage rate of the new e-commerce platform. During this project, I honed my graphic design skills by creating marketing materials such as posters, window signage, and POS terminal displays using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Aside from visual marketing, we devised a training plan for Sherwin Williams retail sales employees. This training would allow them to better assist customers through the continued rollout of the e-commerce application. Alongside this training, we created initiatives that could encourage their customers to use the application.
